Part Two: The Presence Within
The Art of Living Perfectly Imperfect Lives
The Soulprint of Our Lives
In the last reflection, we explored the astonishing truth that God has placed a deep, radiant Presence within the human soul, a Yes beneath every no, a Love beneath every fear. This Presence is not abstract. It is not symbolic. It is the Holy Spirit, the indwelling Life of God.
But to truly understand this Presence, the heart of Soulprint theology, we have to trace its story.
Because the Spirit did not suddenly appear in Acts 2.
The Spirit has been moving since the dawn of time.
The Bible tells a single story:
God with us → God for us → God within us.
And the Holy Spirit is the thread that ties this story together.
Let’s follow that thread.
1. The Presence in the Beginning: The Old Testament Story
In the first chapter of Genesis, we meet the Holy Spirit before we meet ourselves:
“The Spirit of God hovered over the waters” (Genesis 1:2).
Before form, structure, or language, there was Presence.
Throughout the Old Testament, this same Spirit appears again and again, not as a distant force but as a personal, life-ordering Presence:
Breathing life into humanity (Genesis 2:7)
Filling Bezalel with creativity to build the tabernacle (Exodus 31:3)
Resting upon prophets with wisdom and fire (Isaiah 11:2; Ezekiel 36:26–27)
Guiding, correcting, renewing the people of God
The Spirit was not merely near the people,
the Spirit was forming them, shaping them, stirring them into God’s image.
This is the earliest hint of Soulprint:
The Holy Spirit is the One who awakens the Imago Dei and teaches us how to live from it.
But something was still incomplete.
The Spirit came upon people, but did not yet dwell within all people. This is reality and remains a mystery.
A deeper intimacy required a deeper redemption.
2. The Presence Made Flesh: Jesus and the Beatitudes
When Jesus appears on the scene, the Spirit takes on a new role.
From His conception:
“The Holy Spirit will overshadow you…”
to His baptism…
“The Spirit descended upon Him like a dove…”
to His mission…
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me…”
Everything Jesus did, He did in the Spirit - as a fully integrated human being, body, mind, and spirit empowered by the Spirit of God - the true son of the Father. Again, this is a mystery, and reality, because two things can be true at the same time. We are just not use to thinking dualistically this way, but Jesus was a non-dual thinker, but equally important, fully human being.
Then Jesus does something unexpected:
He begins to teach us what a Spirit-led life looks like.
This is the purpose of the Beatitudes.
The Beatitudes are not moral platitudes or spiritual virtues.
They are the curriculum of living within the Presence, what I like to call a prophetic rhythm, like floating down a river, and the river is the Presence of Jesus.
Blessed are the poor in spirit → humility creates room for Presence
Blessed are the pure in heart → clarity allows us to perceive Presence
Blessed are the peacemakers → alignment with Presence becomes action
Blessed are the merciful → Presence moves outward through compassion
The Beatitudes are the logic of the inner life.
They describe what a human being looks like when God dwells within.
But Jesus knew teaching alone was not enough.
The barrier between God and humanity had to be removed, not symbolically, but ontologically.
Enter the cross.
3. The Presence Released: Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Pentecost
When Jesus dies, something cosmic happens.
The Temple veil tears.
The separation ends.
What was once external becomes available internally.
Jesus’ resurrection is not only a victory over death;
It is a victory over all the inner forces that keep us from God’s Presence,
fear, shame, self-protection, ego, and sin.
And then He says something stunning:
“It is better for you that I go.”
Why?
Because His going creates space for the coming.
Pentecost is the fulfillment of the long story of Presence.
What began hovering over the waters now rests upon every believer.
What was once occasional becomes continual.
What was once external becomes internal.
This is not abstract theology.
This is the architecture of the soul.
Pentecost is the moment the Divine Yes takes up residence within us.
4. The Presence Made Known Today: Living From the Soulprint
And this brings us to the heart of what Soulprint exists to teach:
We cannot get God to love us more.
We can only become more aware of the Love already dwelling within us.
The Holy Spirit is not a doctrine to affirm but a reality to inhabit.
When people awaken to this Presence, something changes:
They stop striving and start listening.
They stop performing and start receiving.
They stop living from the ego and start living from the True Self.
They become more grounded, more compassionate, more free.
They begin to recognize patterns, shadows, and stories with new clarity.
They no longer seek God “out there,” because they have found Him here—
in the quiet center of the soul.
This is why Soulprint was created:
To give people the practices, language, and pathways to recognize, enjoy, and live from the Presence that has been there all along.
Not to manipulate God.
Not to earn affection.
Not to become spiritually impressive.
But to awaken to the Love that has always been the truest thing about us.
To trust the Presence.
To follow the Presence.
To live in rhythm with the Presence.
The Story Continues, In You
The Spirit who hovered over creation
who breathed life into Adam
who spoke through the prophets
who rested on Jesus
who filled the disciples with fire…
is the same Spirit breathing in you now.
Your Soulprint is simply the unique pattern of how the Presence expresses itself through your life.
The Beatitudes teach us to keep our inner world clear enough to perceive it.
Pentecost ensures the Presence never leaves.
And faith is the slow, beautiful awakening to the Love that has been within us all along.
This is the gospel behind all gospels:
God does not merely love you.
God lives in you because you were created by God in the image of God and that image was fractured, and Jesus came to restore that image for you.
And your life now becomes the place where the Presence continues its story.
